The Effects of Social Media Addiction, Psychological Distress, and Loneliness on Suicide Ideations and Attempts Among Healthcare Professionals in Saudi Arabia

Introduction: Recently, there has been an alarming increase in psychological distress many populations. One of the reasons can be attributed to rapid development technology and social media, which could adversely affect mental health individuals, including those working healthcare. This study aimed assess influence media addiction, distress, loneliness on suicidal ideations suicide attempts among healthcare students professionals Saudi Arabia. Materials methods: cross-sectional collected data from using a five-part questionnaire: (i) demographics, (ii) Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), (iii) Kessler Psychological Distress (K10), (iv) De Jong Gierveld Loneliness (DGLS), (v) ideation scale. Results: There were 800 participants 33 cities who completed questionnaire. A total 31.37% reported lifelong thoughts suicide, regardless whether they would actually go through with it (S1), 18.38% had within last 12 months (S2), 11% attempted (S3). Of 79 (89.77%) seeking help. Multiple logistic regression showed that lifetime predicted by emotional (EL), (SL), age. Having prior was SL, Suicidal EL, age, addiction. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrated are strongly associated ideas attempts. Such results serve as warning call assists teams arranging planning effective interventions actions raise awareness, well reduce levels lead grave consequences.
